Zambezi Queen

by / Monday, 11 November 2013 / Published in Namibia

Deep in the heart of Africa lies an untamed spirit that has let itself free to roam the beautiful banks of the Chobe River in the form of a luxury river cruise, the Zambezi Queen. This untamed land welcomes the presence of this magnificent 45m, 3 story luxury cruise boat. This isn’t your average safari, away from all the bustling hoards of tourists trying to spot a warthog on the side of the road, or the emptiness of the waterhole under the scorching African sun. No this is the closest you will get to the true Africa while trying to decide what ice cold sun-downer you should try tonight. We welcome you to the most amazing African experience south of the Nile, the magnificent Zambezi Queen.

The Zambezi Queen is located on the Chobe River, situated between Namibia and Botswana.  on the banks of the Caprivi Strip .It  is only a few kilometers from the meeting place of  Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. Due to its size the Zambezi Queen currently uses only one mooring station and therefore every night she will dock at Cenku. There are plans to reopen the Leguba docking station but as yet this remains closed.

Dividing Botswana’s national park and Namibia’s Caprivi strip, the Chobe River delta hosts one of the largest population of wildlife in Africa. Ranging from huge herds of Elephant to Buffalo, Lion and Leopard to Crocodiles. The game viewing in this area is unbeatable in terms of variety, proximity and frequency.

What the most exciting part of the trip is though is the fact that while you sauntering along down the river at a leisurely pace watching the animals coming into drink at very close proximity. You sit in an air conditioned lounge on one of two decks, while sipping away at your favourite tonic.

The Zambezi Queen has 2 levels and has been built with 14 luxury cabins.  All the rooms have their own private balconies so that the guests can  do their own game watching from the comfort of their own cabin. The  rooms have been tastefully furnished with either double beds or two  single beds for comfort. 4 of the 14 suites are master suites that are  designed with their own private outdoor area. The master suites are  larger than the standard suites. Each of the suites have been designed  with the African summer in mind and have been kitted out with  fans and specially designed shutter systems to assist air flow  throughout the boat.
